What is a Pharmacy U Masterclass?

Pharmacy U has brought pharmacists together across Canada for over a decade. Now, we're introducing a brand new experience: Masterclasses. Our new training workshops bring together a small group of pharmacists and a top-tier pharmacist coach to do a deep dive on one critical topic. We'll spend one day together, exploring how to address patient needs, running through case studies, and setting you up to be your best self. Expect to walk away with the sense of inspiration you've come to expect from Pharmacy U conferences paired with actionable insights that will take your practice to the next level.

Skincare Pharmacists: Improving Dermatological Outcomes in Pharmacy

As the Canadian healthcare system continues to be tested, provincial governments are turning towards first-line healthcare professionals in order to unblock new points of care. Amongst these professionals are pharmacists who already have a high expertise in drug management, patient-care while working in pharmacies that have remained accessible to the public even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their close proximity to patients have given them the rank of one of the most trusted professionals. As governments continue to expand their scope, pharmacists are being asked to reinvent their workflows, reallocate their human resources, maintain a high quality of service all while continuing their previous activities. A new opportunity presents itself to the pharmacist to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. As experts in pharmacotherapy and with their close proximity to patients, pharmacists have the possibility to assess and prescribe holistically to not only reactively treat common dermatological conditions, but to prevent flareups and reduce the burden of disease. Upon completion, attendees will have all the tools/skills required to provide exemplary care and treatment for patients suffering from skin related conditions. All graduates of this Masterclass will receive a certificate of completion.

This masterclass aims:

  • Conduct effective patient consultations to understand patient needs, build trust and encourage compliance to recommended treatment plans
  • To highlight the impact of internal and external factors on dermatological conditions
  • To map the common skincare ingredients and technologies that are available within the pharmacy space
  • Integrate holistic care strategies for dermatological conditions
  • Provide 7 hours of unaccredited learning
