Speaker Bio
Chris Juozaitis is the chief clinician at AdhereRx, and pharmacy manager of the world-renowned Howe Sound Pharmacy which he has co-owned for over 30 years. Chris and his partners were early pioneers of the pharmacist-at-intake workflow with their move into a newly designed facility in January of 2012. They discovered stunning results from the additional patient-facing time that this revolutionary workflow freed up for staff pharmacists – clinical evidence of better patient outcomes, as well as a 300% increase in prescription count and profit over the next three years. Long before prescribing fees were available, most of the profit increase was driven by improved, predictable medication adherence from existing patients. The pharmacy has expanded profitable pharmacy services every year since, and routinely hosts professional visitors from across Canada and abroad.

In 2013 Chris, partnered with Jim Danahy and a group of colleagues to form AdhereRx Inc. The group began to measure and codify the new workflow, related processes and financial indicators into licensed support programs and a training curriculum that has been used to help hundreds of pharmacists across north and South America and to advise professionals as far away as Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

With more than 40 years of experience in both the clinical and business sides of community pharmacy, Chris gently and respectfully collaborates with his fellow pharmacist-owners and corporate executives to help them create and sustain their own atmospheres that compassionately and efficiently provide better care and education to both staff and patients.

Chris still sees patients every day as he oversees a state-of-the-art home facility that incorporates a combination of innovative workflow, technology, environmental design and communication in a simple, patient-centred space. In addition to producing better patient care, the pharmacist-at-intake model helps the Howe Sound Pharmacy team enjoy a very healthy balance of professional fulfillment and family life, as office hours are 9am-5:30pm M-F, and they are closed weekends and holidays. One senior industry executive observed that they had “never seen a place fill 700 prescriptions a day and be quieter than a church on Tuesday!”
