Vaccination against influenza is well known to protect older adults from severe illness and complications such as pneumonia. However, its impact extends beyond the respiratory system including maintaining cardiovascular health and functional independence. This session will discuss expected changes to influenza vaccine composition for 2024 and indicated products for older adults and will present evidence on why we should be considering influenza to be a systemic illness with broad and long-term impacts in this population.
