As pharmacists’ scope of practice continues to evolve across Canada, community pharmacy is taking on an increasingly broad role within the healthcare system. At the same time, pharmacy itself is evolving, and expanded services and emerging channels changing how pharmacy teams engage with and support their communities are becoming of increased importance. This session will explore what it takes to move from expanded scope on paper to expanded scope in practice, focusing on the operational and health system considerations and the value pharmacists bring to the healthcare team when working to their full scope.
This discussion will examine pharmacy workflow, capacity, team roles and system-level barriers, as well as how evolving pharmacy channels, including digital pharmacy, e-commerce and other emerging models, may shape the future of pharmacy practice. Looking beyond the prescription, the conversation will consider how these evolving models can support a holistic approach to the patient journey.
This session is not intended as a professional development program or as a clinical or scientific exchange, is open to all audience members including non- healthcare professionals and does not require registration.
