April 2016, Bonnie was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable cancer. Myeloma is a relapsing-remitting cancer. This means that it alternates between periods of heightened activity where symptoms and/or complications are active and need to be treated, and stable disease that’s often controlled by treatment, but not always successfully or easily. This lived experience has certainly provided Bonnie with a solid understanding of what it means to live life as a “patient”.
