Serotypes causing invasive pneumococcal disease (IMD) and vaccine options for its prevention have recently seen significant change. Pharmacists may be unsure of when an updated pneumococcal vaccine is recommended for a patient and, if so, how the current options compare. Using practical examples, this session will review the burden of pneumococcal disease, serotypes causing IMD and those with antimicrobial resistance, vaccine options, and current recommendations to equip pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to enhance vaccination access and uptake.
