Speaker Bio
After graduating with a Pharm.D. from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Montreal in 2012, Lara started her journey as a pharmacist focusing her practice in retail pharmacy. Shortly after, in January 2015, Lara joined Merck Canada’s medical information team as a senior specialist. She went on to develop a deep interest in continuing medical education and in delivering presentations. At the end of 2015, she joined GSK’s Medical Affairs Team as a Medical Science Liaison in respiratory diseases where she spent the next three years focusing on asthma, severe asthma and COPD. During those three years, she delivered multiple conferences and talks to her peers on the disease state and the related pharmacotherapies. Towards the end of 2018, wanting to go back to her clinical practice and eager to provide quality pharmaceutical care to patients, she joined two family medicine groups as their consultant pharmacist. Since then, her practice has been focused on doing complex medical reviews, answering healthcare providers’ questions on pharmacotherapy, optimizing pharmacological treatments to reach therapeutic targets (e.g.: A1C, blood pressure, etc.) and responding to all sorts of referrals from family physicians. Today, Lara works at GMF du Chemin de la Station St-Henri where a good proportion of her referrals concerns weight management. During her spare time, Lara continues to deliver independent continuing medical education presentations and to publish, when possible, in continuing medical education journals for healthcare providers. Her main areas of interest remain respiratory diseases, weight management and insomnia.
