Speaker Bio
Dragana Skokovic-Sunjic is a Clinical Pharmacist and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) practicing in a primary care setting with Hamilton Family Health Team. In addition to her collaborative clinical practice, she is a leader in knowledge mobilization for probiotics across the globe.

Translating scientific research in this field, she has authored the ‘Clinical Guide to Probiotic Products Available in Canada’ and the ‘Clinical Guide to Probiotic Products Available in the US’ since 2008. This practical clinical tool is peer-reviewed and updated annually to reflect the latest evidence. It includes the available evidence-based probiotic products in the Canadian and US markets. Dragana’s project has been presented, published, and recognized internationally, receiving numerous awards and recognition. It has also been featured in the Washington Post, New York Times, Forbes, National Geographic, CBC, and more.

Dragana’s objective is to enable clinicians and patients to recognize if and when probiotic therapy is necessary and what particular strain(s) would be the most appropriate for the desired outcome. Dragana has been a leading speaker in the field of probiotics, presenting at numerous international conferences, including those across North America (since 2008), Budapest (2018), Berlin (2019), Vienna (2022), and Boston (2023).

Dragana’s efforts in probiotic education led to establishing the ‘Alliance for Education on Probiotics’ (AEProbio™) in 2015. AEProbio supports publishing the Clinical Guides to Probiotic Products and coordinates the preparation and delivery of various educational tools designed for healthcare professionals and consumers.

Dragana has collaborated and coauthored books and publications in the areas of public health, probiotics, women’s health, and more. She is a guest lecturer at the Pharmacy School, University of Waterloo in Ontario, McMaster University Medical Residents, Hamilton, Ontario.

Since 2002, Dragana has been credentialed by the Menopause Society (formerly North American Menopause Society) as a Menopause Practitioner (MSCP). She has been involved in educating healthcare professionals and patients on evidence-based approaches in supporting women’s health. Dragana has presented scientific posters at the NAMS annual conferences (2017 & 2019) and at the International Menopause Society Congress (2018). Recently, she has been asked to sit as a board member for the exam review committee (2021-present), working on updating the certification exam for new menopause practitioners.

Since 1997, Dragana has been pioneering education on natural health products. Working in collaboration with McMaster University Continuing Medical Education Office (CME), she has presented at Clinic Days, conferences, and other CME events with the aim to provide evidence-based education on various self-care, alternative medicine, and natural health products. From 2000 to 2007, Dragana played an instrumental role in preparing and publishing referenced monographs on various herbal supplements (Dell Chemist). During this period, she was also involved in the preparation of the regulations for the Natural Health Product Directorate with Health Canada, where she provided consultations and worked with focus groups.
