Basal insulin is another tool in the toolbox for the management of diabetes. But how many of us pharmacists are comfortable and actively involved in discussing basal insulin? By the end of this session, pharmacists will be able to initiate conversations with people with type 2 diabetes in our community pharmacies to:
·      Discuss the place in therapy of all basal insulins, including 1st and 2nd generation basal insulin analogs and once weekly basal insulin
·      Assess people with diabetes who could benefit from optimized basal insulin, including individuals who need more basal insulin, and those who need less insulin 
·      Recognize and identify strategies to overcome the pitfalls of basal insulin
