Description

We are all familiar with traditional blood capillary glucose monitoring (CBG) and the challenges it presents for both patients and health care provider.  For patients, the testing procedure was both painful and hard to interpret without proper guidance and frequency of testing.   We have been fortunate to have continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems in community pharmacy for many years.  Being able to determine possible hypoglycemic events BEFORE they happen is something that CBG just cannot provide.  Being able to see quickly where one’s sugars current ARE, where they have BEEN and more importantly, where they are GOING, is crucial to identify glucose trends and provide immediate and actionable interventions for both patients and HCP.

We will explore how a community pharmacist can learn to help identify patients who might benefit from CGM technology, how simply providing the technology to a patient is both an important and impactful intervention.  Further interpretation of CGM data can help pharmacists identify issues and make targeted interventions and/or recommendations.  Being consistently one of the most seen and trusted HCP, we must be more active in both informing and educating patients about the benefits CGM technology.

Join us for this interactive session and learn the 3-step process to add CGM to your practice workflow with strategies and tips to optimize CGM based patient care.
