Our mission is to deliver the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines.
About us
At Moderna, we believe messenger RNA, or mRNA, is the “software of life.” Every cell in the body uses mRNA to provide real-time instructions to make the proteins necessary to drive all aspects of biology, including in human health and disease. Given its essential role, we believe mRNA could be used to create a new category of medicines with significant potential to improve the lives of patients. We are pioneering a new class of medicines made of messenger RNA, or mRNA. The potential implications of using mRNA as a drug are significant and far-reaching and could meaningfully improve how medicines are discovered, developed and manufactured. To learn more, visit www.modernatx.com. This Moderna page is not the appropriate place to report adverse events (side-effects) for any products. If you are or someone you know is experiencing a side effect, please reach out to your healthcare professional. Moderna is continuously monitoring the safety of its products. We encourage you to report any side effects directly to us at 1‑866‑MODERNA (1‑866‑663‑3762).

As part of our #AAPIHeritageMonth celebration, we are introducing some of our incredible Asian and Pacific Islander colleagues at Moderna. This week, meet Jackson Y., a Senior Manager in our Technical Development Operations team. Originally from Hong Kong, Jackson moved to Vancouver, Canada at the age of five. He completed his undergraduate degree in behavioral neuroscience at the University of San Diego, master's in bioprocessing at the Keck Graduate Institute, and started his biotech career with a rotation program in operations covering manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance. When he's not dragon boating with friends, he's rock climbing, preparing Toastmasters speeches, and traveling. His advice to young Asian and Pacific Islander professionals: "Embrace every setback as a stepping stone towards greater learning and self-improvement."

Long COVID is having a major impact on the productivity of health systems and the wider workforce. One recent estimate suggests that #LongCOVID may have cut labor supply in the European Union by more than 1 million full-time workers in 2022. Studies in the US and UK have reached similar conclusions, indicating that the condition has driven the recent increase in workplace absence in many countries. In celebration of #AAPIHeritageMonth, we're proud to share the stories from our Asian and Pacific Islander colleagues across Moderna, leading at home, at work, and in their communities, and helping to positively impact human health. Meet Saad Sohail from our Platform Chemistry Group, a Senior Research Associate with a focus on advancing our #mRNA and #LNP platforms. Saad was born in High Point, North Carolina, and spent much of his childhood living throughout the Middle East and South Asia, including Pakistan, India, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, and the UAE. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and moved to Massachusetts to pursue a career in medicinal chemistry. When he's not in the lab, he's spending time in the company of friends and loved ones, or volunteering with community outreach programs. His advice to young Asian professionals: "Express a bit more grace to yourself as it is often something that is difficult to do – especially in our most vulnerable moments!"

Our obsession with learning is as boundless as the universe! 🌌🚀 Last week, we had the great pleasure of welcoming representatives from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the International Space Station National Laboratory at our new Moderna headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to learn about #biomedical research in space and bring new perspectives to our thinking, as we continue to advance our science and our business. Thank you to NASA astronaut Stephen Bowen who inspired all of us with his experience living and working at the International Space Station, as well as Jorge Sotomayor and Dr. Davide Marotta, Ph.D., who delighted us with the ISS’s capabilities and research.
