Nope. On average, a prescription for a generic medicine costs 82% less than a prescription for a brand-name drug in Canada. CGPA's recent report – "International Pricing and Canada's Generic Prescription Medicines" – points out that as of 2022, the average price of a brand-name prescription had climbed to $125, while the average price of a generic prescription is only $22. In fact, using generics translates to more than $37 billion in annual savings across the country.
