Description

The 2022-2023 respiratory virus season has seen a resurgence in cases of respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, resulting in a “triple-demic” of co-circulating RSV, COVID-19, and influenza. While RSV isn’t new, public and health professional awareness of this viral illness has never been higher. As front-line health professionals, pharmacists receive questions from, and provide supportive care to, patients affected by RSV. This session will review the epidemiology and pathophysiology of RSV, including its presentation, complications, prevention, and management, equipping pharmacists to recognize and respond to cases of RSV in their community. The status of vaccines and therapeutics in development against RSV will also be reviewed.
