Description

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is one of the most common diseases managed by pharmacists across the nation. The paradigm of how we manage AR is shifting with a growing understanding that it is a complex process, requiring a coordinated effort from healthcare providers and patients. This session will offer an integrated approach to AR care given the recent expansion in scope of practice for pharmacists in Ontario and elsewhere. It will also outline strategic ways by which this exciting new role can be not just maintained but grown in a manner that rewards pharmacists and their businesses as well as the patients served by the services. Pharmacists will be given practical tips to help them better care for patients with AR by utilizing their knowledge, skills, and expanded scope to improve access to routine care, reduce the burden on the healthcare system, while customizing and optimizing therapy and health outcomes for patients.
