Description

As travel and tourism re-emerges from the obstacles faced during the pandemic, the way in which travel medicine is being delivered is changing, with travelers increasingly turning to their pharmacists for last-minute travel advice and vaccinations. With the rapid resumption of travel, travel medicine providers need to be prepared to identify high risk travelers, as well as to provide the appropriate recommendations for travelers to help prevent travel-related diseases.

This session will review the basic travel health information needed for a pre-travel health consult, explain how to assess risk, and will identify helpful resources available. Attendees will learn the epidemiology, causes, and prevention strategies of the main travel-related vaccine preventable diseases. By the end of the session, participants will also be able to recommend travel measures to prevent and treat common travel-related diseases, such as travelers’ diarrhea, to ensure their patients stay healthy while travelling abroad.
